- A
swan paddling down the lake
Showered by roses red
Two faces it wore to keep its pride
No matter day or night.
A white feathered swan with such long legs
Divine, they say, such beauty
Not as perfect as people had longed
As they do strive to keep themselves steady.
A glorious white swan of unblemished feathers
Is trapped in bouquets of black lilies
"Perseverance and patience is needed," it said
"To return to the land of iris".
At youth called ugly, a duckling
Not much experience nor knowledge
Later on, it was called a swan
For it gained a lot at the end.
Now quietly and gently it paddled with grace
Aged but full of beauty
A swansong for everybody to embrace
As we scatter it rosemary.
